Marriage is God’s idea

By orsillam | 11th Oct 2011 | Filed under Uncategorised

Thought for the day: “Marriages are made in heaven and are consummated on earth.”

Genesis 2: 18-24

The Lord God said,” It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Imagine for a moment how it must feel to be Adam. God created you, you are not born like the rest of mankind. God shaped and made you with his own to hands. Yes I know God made us all but Adam was different. He was all alone, he had no one else just God and everything God created.

God saw that from all His creation there was no one suitable for Adam someone like him. God put adam to sleep and from his rib he created Adam a helper, a woman. By doing this God illustrated that symbolically in marriage man and woman became one in flesh. Marriage is a union between woman and man of their hearts and their lives.

God created Eve to be Adams helper, not his slave or his boss, but his helper. So many people who are getting married today believes that they both need to give and take 50/50. Maybe because of this believe people are getting divorced.

That is not what marriage is about. Gods intention with marriage is a relationship or partnership between a man and woman where they together help each other to grow, but not only in their marriage, but also in their relationship with God. So many people have a complete opposite perception about marriage. For some men they see themselves as the boss of the house and the woman is there to serve them. Woman believe that they are fragile and equal and they are the centre of it all. Unfortunately that is not the way things work.

As husband and wife the intention of marriage should be to help one another, to support each other both emotionally and physically . To be best friends and to share everything.

God did give man and woman different  tasks, but all these tasks has one soul purpose and that is to honor  God.

The book of life

By orsillam | 10th Oct 2011 | Filed under Uncategorised

There are a large amount of people in the world today that feels like the bible is no longer applicable in our lives. It is a story of thousands of years ago about a God and His people. We are living in a modern time and the rules and regulations of the bible cannot be applied on our lives today. This is not true, the bible is a rich book with a great history of how God has been involved in the lives of normal people, like you and me.

It holds the key to a live of abundance, all we need to do is to spend time with it. The more time ones spend with the bible the more you start to understand it. The great thing it is full of answers about questions that we are struggling with today. We must just be willing to give God and His word some of our time every day.

I  know. life is already in such a mess and so busy, where are we still going to get time to read the bible or Give God time during the day. Most of us hardly have time for one other or our Families, let alone time for God.

God never intended for man to work, He gave us everything we needed in our lives. Satan knew however that if he could find away to make man see that there are more to live than just having it all and living in harmony with nature, man will destroy Gods intensions for him. All Satan had to do was to find a “gap in the market” and use it to his advantage. He showed Eve what she was missing, and suddenly live was not so great to Eve anymore. She disobeyed God and by doing this destroyed the harmony God intended. God created mankind for companionship.

The bible is an incredible mass of knowledge that will guide us in the do’s and don’ts of live. If we just allow the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and we give God some time, we will receive knowledge beyond anything we ever imagined. The bible is the key to live. By reading it and spending time with it we learn to know God and His intention with our lives even today. All we need to do is to give it some time and allow the Holly Spirit to take control of our lives and thoughts and time.

In the next few weeks I am going to take a new look at the bible and its people and see how we could apply it on our lives today.

Discover your own identity

By orsillam | 26th Sep 2011 | Filed under Uncategorised

Thought for the day : Where there is love, there is God – Leo Tolstoi.

John 1:9-12

Yet to all who received him,to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12)

We are living in a very confusing world. It is full of demands, and as humans we try and meed the demands of the world. There are so many people that struggles with their Faith. A lot of people feel far away from God, they feel God has forsaken them, and that He does not care anymore.

As christian we are not suppose to be confused about God and our identity and yet I sometime cannot help but wonder.

However the minute we accept the Holy Spirit into our lives, or just rediscover Him in our hearts, all the confusion disappears. We know that Christ died for us and because of this we can now call God our Father. We are all family in the name of Christ. He cares for us and will allow no Evil to harm us. God does not promise plain sailing when we accept Him into our lives, but He does promise us external live.

If you are struggling with your identity at the moment or you don’t quite know what your purpose in life is. Just know this you are a part of Gods loving family, you are His child.

God’s way

Thought for the day: When you accept the Holy Spirit into your life it is like a blood transfusion for a victorious life

Ephesians 5: 6-20

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lords will is. ( Eph 5:17)

In the current day and age a lot off us are having endless stress, about work and money, our children. We worry about tomorrow and the next day. We don’t know what lies ahead in the future. All these worries and stress is bad for our health and personal lives, and our relationships.

We so often think God is only available on a Sunday in church. Come Monday morning we are so caught up in our problems again that we forget that god is with us every second of the day. We rely on ourselves to find solutions for our devastating lives.

God says to us that when we surrender to Him and allow the Holy Spirit to transform our lives, we do not have to face to world and it’s problems on our own. he is there for us and He will guide us and help us on our daily paths.

The Holy Spirit and God

By orsillam | 12th Sep 2011 | Filed under Belief, Faith, God

Thought of the Day: When you surrender to the Spirit of God, your will learn more about God and Christ  in a week , than what you would have learned in a lifetime , without the Spirit of God in your heart.

Matthew 6:5-15

“This , then is how you should pray: “‘ Our Father in Heaven, hollowed be your name, (Matt 6:9)

We are all familiar with God’s prayer. It was given to the disciples by Christ as a model on how we must pray to God. Our Father in Heaven indicates not only that God is Majestic and Holy, but that He is also loving and personal.

When Christ came to earth a lot of the then Jewish people believed that he was going to save them from the Romans. But Christ did more than that He saved us from eternal hell, and gave us the kingdom of God.

I often find myself searching for God, I want to know more and learn more about Him, but sometimes it feels like i am hitting a brick wall, na matter what i feel far from God and completely lost in His word and learning.

God gave us the Holy spirit to be with us and guide us here on earth while He is preparing heaven for us. The Holy spirit will only work within us if we allow Him too. It is up to me and you to open our hearts for Gods spirit and to allow Him to walk with us. To be with us and guide us in Gods ways.

If you feel lost, and at a dead end in you spiritual lives, ask God to open your heart for His spirit. You will be a new person.

Dear Spirit of God, I surrender to you, please be my Guide for the rest of my life.
